Shaykh Maytham Makkabi

Shaykh Maytham Makkabi is a teacher and researcher in Islamic Studies, with a particular focus on Shia Islamic thought, Hawzah education, theology, jurisprudence, hadith sciences, ethics, and comparative religion. His educational background combines traditional seminary studies with academic study in the field of Islamic Studies.

Shaykh Maytham completed the Muqaddamāt level of the traditional Hawzah curriculum, pursued a diploma in Shia Islamic Studies, and received master's-level education in Islamic Studies. His studies have also included instruction under qualified scholars in different educational settings. Alongside his studies, he has taught basic Islamic sciences for more than six years, with subjects including fiqh, theology, hadith sciences, and comparative religion.

He is the founder of the Zakatul Ilm Research and Education Initiative, an educational project established in 2018 that provides courses in Islamic sciences through a structured seminary curriculum. The program covers a broad range of subjects, including theology, jurisprudence, Qur'anic studies, Islamic ethics, principles of jurisprudence, hadith, Arabic language, logic, and comparative religion.

His academic and writing activities extend to topics in Islamic theology, religious studies, ethics, Mahdism, and comparative religion. Among his published works is Breaking the Idols of Desire (Foolishness), a work examining moral and spiritual development through the teachings of the Qur'an and the Ahl al-Bayt, as well as A Brief Guide to the Fundamental Beliefs of Shia Islam. His published research also addresses subjects including the suffering Messiah, Mahdism, comparative religious traditions, and theological questions.

Through his teaching and research, Shaykh Maytham Makkabi contributes to the study and teaching of Islamic sciences, with an emphasis on presenting religious and theological subjects in a structured educational setting.
