Islamic Law (Fiqh) 2, taught by Sheikh Sayed Mohammad Baqer Qazwini, examines practical Islamic rulings related to prayer, fasting, Zakat, and Khums. The course addresses common questions and situations that Muslims may encounter in worship and religious practice, with discussions based on Islamic legal principles.
Prayer and Its Rulings
The course begins with rulings concerning acts that invalidate prayer, including crossing the hands, excessive movement, and adding or omitting a fundamental element of prayer. It also discusses Sahw (mistakes in prayer), Sujud al-Sahw, different types of doubts, doubts concerning the number of Rak'ahs, and Qadha' prayers.
Congregational and Special Prayers
Several sessions focus on congregational prayer, including its importance, the conditions of the prayer leader, forming the lines of Jama'ah, and joining a congregational prayer. The course also examines Qasr prayers, including the legal distance for Qasr, frequent travel, hometown rulings, and travel for sinful purposes.
Other topics include Friday Prayer, Eid and Signs Prayers, and recommended prayers, along with rulings concerning four optional cities.
Fasting and I'tikaaf
The course examines the significance and intention of fasting and addresses practical questions such as fasting during long hours, acts that invalidate the fast, and the Kaffara for breaking a fast. It also discusses discovering that a fast was invalid, fasting while sick, moon sighting, and I'tikaaf.
Zakat
The course provides an introduction to the conditions of Zakat and examines Zakat on camels, cattle, sheep, gold, and silver. It also discusses whether Zakat represents a partnership or a right, the recipients of Zakat, and the rulings concerning the poor and destitute.
The sessions also cover Zakat al-Fitrah and questions concerning possible legal means of avoiding Zakat.
Khums
The final section focuses on Khums and addresses common questions and misconceptions surrounding it. Topics include Khums on spoils, minerals, treasures, inheritance, dowry, and gifts, as well as the Khums year, Khums on children, exempt expenses, and questions concerning the avoidance of Khums.
