This introductory Islamic Seminary course is designed for beginner-level Hawza students seeking a structured foundation in Islamic beliefs (Aqaid) and practical Islamic laws (Ahkam). Taught by Dr. Sheikh Muhammad-Hussein Rajabian, the course combines doctrinal understanding with practical religious guidance, helping students build a clear and authentic understanding of Islam according to the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt عليهم السلام. The lessons are presented in an organized and accessible manner suitable for students at the early stages of seminary studies.
The Aqaid section of the course is based on the textbook Al-Aqaid wa al-Ma‘arif (العقائد و المعارف) authored by Dr. Sobhani and Dr. Berenjkar. This text introduces the essential principles of Islamic belief, including theology, prophethood, Imamate, resurrection, and other core doctrines from a Shi‘a perspective. Students will also become familiar with the intellectual and spiritual foundations of Twelver Shi‘a beliefs through concise and systematic lessons.
The Ahkam section is taught through the textbook Muntakhab al-Ahkam (منتخب الأحکام) by Sayyid Ali al-Sistani. Through this work, students study practical rulings related to worship, purification, prayer, fasting, and everyday religious responsibilities. The course emphasizes understanding the application of Islamic law in daily life while cultivating precision and familiarity with juristic terminology used in Hawza education.
