Usul al-Kafi 2, taught by ustadh Sayed Mohammad Baqer Qazwini, explores Islamic epistemology and the concept of knowledge ('Ilm) through traditions from Usul al-Kafi. The course addresses challenges related to religious leadership, including the dangers of corrupt or misguided religious leaders. It also examines the institutional role of Khums and its significance within the Muslim community.
Knowledge, Sources, and Intellectual Property
The final discussions consider the ethical responsibilities involved in preserving and transmitting knowledge, including source attribution and intellectual property. The course connects traditional principles of hadith transmission with contemporary questions surrounding copyright and the proper acknowledgment of sources.
