Sayed Hussain Qazwini

Sayed Hossein Al-Qazwini is a Shia scholar, lecturer, and educator whose academic and religious studies have taken him from the United States to the seminaries of Karbala and Najaf. He completed his undergraduate studies in Islamic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, earning a bachelor's degree in the field.

Following his academic education in the United States, Sayed Hossein returned to Iraq and pursued advanced Islamic studies in the traditional seminaries. From 2004 to 2010, he studied at the Islamic Seminary of Karbala, followed by further studies at the Islamic Seminary of Najaf from 2010 to 2014. During these years, he studied under a number of prominent scholars, including his father, Ayatollah Sayed Murtadha Al-Qazwini. He later received a license of ijtihad from his father.

His religious studies have included the traditional disciplines of Islamic scholarship, with particular attention to jurisprudence, legal theory, Hadith, and the science of narrators. Following his seminary education, he became involved in teaching advanced-level studies, including Bahth al-Kharij, at the Islamic Seminary of Karbala.

Sayed Hossein has also developed a substantial record of teaching and writing. His academic interests include Islamic jurisprudence, Fiqh, and Rijal studies, and he has authored works in Arabic in these areas. He has also taught structured courses in the science of Rijal, including an introductory course examining the methodology used to assess the reliability of narrators of Islamic traditions.

In addition to his scholarly and teaching activities, Sayed Hossein Al-Qazwini is an active public speaker. He has delivered lectures at Islamic centers and religious gatherings in different parts of the world, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. His talks cover a broad range of Islamic subjects, including theology, Islamic jurisprudence, the teachings of the Ahlul Bayt, contemporary issues facing Muslim communities, and questions of religious and social life.

Sayed Hossein continues to be associated with the Islamic Seminary of Karbala as a lecturer and scholar. His combination of university-level education in Islamic Studies, extensive seminary training in Iraq, advanced teaching experience, and international lecturing has enabled him to contribute to Islamic education for audiences both in Iraq and abroad.
